Green Peas Kachori  

A delicious green peas cutlet savory. Easy to make and tastes great as a snack or side dish along with a cup of fine masala chai. 

The main ingredients are fresh or frozen green peas and paneer.

Green Peas Kachori


White flour (maida) : 1 cup

Wheat flour (atta): 1/2 cup

Vegetable Oil: 1 tablespoon

Green peas: 1/2 cup (Fresh or frozen)

Ginger : 1 " piece de-skinned

Aniseeds: 1 teaspoon 

Green chilies : 4 

Salt to taste : 1/2~1 teaspoon or as per taste


To Grind:

  • Grind the ginger, aniseeds and green chillies to a paste in a mixer. Add a little water (1~3 teaspoons) if necessary to get the pasty consistency.


  • Heat oil in a pan, add the ginger, chilli and the aniseed paste. 

  • Saute this mixture for 2 minutes, then add the green peas and salt. Cook this for 5 minutes then allow it to cool.   Then grind this peas mixture in a blender and set aside in a cup.

  • Mix the flours, oil and salt in a large bowl. Keep adding a a few teaspoons of water until you get a smooth dough.

  •  Take a small ball of dough and roll it out, place little green peas filling  in the centre and close to form a pouch. Roll this out gently like a semi-circular patty. 

  • In a small oil frying pan, heat up vegetable oil and when hot add the dough patty and fry like pooris or like parathas. Flip sides to get even cooking on both sides. The color should turn brown to reddish brown.

Serving Suggestion:

Serve one or two pieces of the fried green peas kachori in a small plate along with either of ketchup, mint/tamarind sauce. Enjoy with a fine cup of hot masala chai. 

This is a great snack to party or have a chat with friend/family.
